The filling level in underground gas storage facilities in Germany and France has dropped below 50%. This was announced on January 11 by Gazprom's press service, citing data from the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) association.

"In Germany and France, the largest European economies, the occupancy rate of underground gas storage facilities is already below 50%. According to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), as of January 9 in UGS (underground gas storage. Germany has 48.2% of its gas reserves, France 49.2%," the company's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that the cold weather in Europe stimulates the accelerated consumption of resources from storage facilities. Thus, on January 7 and 8, the maximum volumes of gas for these days in the entire history of observations were selected from European UGS, and on January 5 and 6, record daily sampling rates were also recorded.

As of January 9, the total volume of gas in European storage facilities amounted to 56.3 billion cubic meters, which corresponds to 55.5% of their total capacity, Gazprom claims. This is 12.6 billion cubic meters less than on the same date last year.

Gazprom's press service reported on December 28 last year that gas reserves in underground storage facilities in Europe continue to decrease at a record pace during the holidays. The report also states that the rapid reduction of gas reserves in Europe may lead to problems with gas supply in winter.
