The program of affordable rental housing will be expanded to the whole of Russia

The Russian authorities are preparing proposals to scale the affordable rental housing program beyond the Far Eastern Federal District. This became known on January 11.

Currently, the program assumes that tenants pay only a third of the rental price for the first five years, and then the amount gradually increases by the tenth year of residence. According to TASS, apartments are being purchased at HOME.They are sold in the Russian Federation with finished finishes and furniture and are transferred to regional operators, while the preferential rental rate is provided by subsidies from the federal and regional budgets.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to ensure the construction of at least 10,000 apartments for preferential rent in the Far East, which can be used by young professionals, students and professionals in demand in the region. The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of the Far East Development will prepare proposals for scaling the program to other regions of Russia by 2027, following which the government will receive a corresponding report.

It is proposed to introduce a new type of social support, in which part of the rent will be compensated by the state, depending on the income of the family. Such a measure could provide housing for millions of families, including those living in emergency homes and those in crisis situations.
