The GKD denied the news about the artist's broken leg during the "Nutcracker"
Information about the artist's broken leg during the ballet "The Nutcracker" is not true. This was reported to Izvestia on January 6 by the press service of the State Kremlin Palace (GKD).
Earlier, a number of media outlets reported on an "emergency" during the screening of the ballet The Nutcracker as part of a New Year's Tree performance. The news reported that the actor was injured on stage and was hospitalized with a fracture of the metatarsal bones of the foot. The palace administration stressed that no official requests for comment had been received.
"Yesterday, during a performance, one of the performers of the corps de ballet injured a ligament. He doesn't have any fracture, he didn't have a cast. Moreover, he danced the performance to the end," explained Alexandra Timofeeva, the chief choreographer of the Kremlin Ballet Theater.
According to her, what happened is a completely routine, working situation for artists whose activities are associated with the risk of injury. The dancer was replaced in subsequent performances, and he is currently recovering.
The GKD press service expressed surprise that the news authors did not check the information and seek an official comment, which led to a misunderstanding.
Mikhail Lobukhin, the premier of the Bolshoi Theatre, was injured on October 19 last year while performing a part in the ballet Ivan the Terrible, which led to the announcement of an intermission in the performance. Then many viewers decided that the fall of the artist was only part of the production. At the same time, the rest of the ballet participants continued their performance.
