By early January 2026, the level of gas reserves in France's underground storage facilities had dropped below 60%. This was announced on January 4 by the Gazprom press service.

"According to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), as of January 1, the occupancy of UGS (underground gas storage. France, one of the largest economies in Europe, accounts for 59.1%," the Telegram channel says.

An even more significant drop was recorded in the Netherlands, where storage occupancy decreased to 48.2%, and in Germany — to 56.1%. As of January 1, the volume of gas in underground storage facilities in Europe amounted to 62.5 billion cubic meters, which is 10.7 billion cubic meters less than last year.

Gazprom's press service reported on December 28 that gas reserves in underground storage facilities in Europe continue to decrease at a record pace during the holidays. The report also states that the rapid reduction of gas reserves in Europe may lead to problems with gas supply in winter.
