A fighter of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) destroyed a Ukrainian heavy drone of the Baba Yaga type, using an unconventional method — using a rope, while maintaining his own reconnaissance drone. This was announced on January 3 by the operator of the unmanned systems unit of the 177th separate Guards Marine Regiment of the Storm detachment, operating as part of the Center group of forces, with the call sign Krepysh.

"They (the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters. — Ed.) they see the movement of our infantry, and the Baba Yaga immediately arrives. She has, let's say, a good combat unit — with one drop she can cover an entire assault group," he told RIA Novosti.

After timely detection of the drone in the air, a decision was made to approach. As a result, the Russian military rose above the target and performed a maneuver that caused the propellers of the Ukrainian drone to wind the rope attached to the reconnaissance drone. As a result, a heavy drone with a warhead lost control and fell to the ground.

At the same time, his own drone, as specified by the military, was not damaged. The fastening design allowed the rope to detach at the moment of contact, which is why it went away with the enemy vehicle, but the Russian drone remained intact.
