- More than 85 thousand people were left without electricity in the LPR after the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the energy system
As a result of night attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the power system of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), over 85 thousand subscribers were left without electricity. This was reported on January 2 in the Telegram channel of the government of the LPR.
"On the night of January 2, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out at least six attacks on the energy complex of the Luhansk People's Republic. One of the substations in the northern regions of the LPR was put out of operation, four cities and adjacent settlements were de-energized. More than 85.4 thousand subscribers were left without electricity," the message says.
According to the first Deputy Chairman of the Government of the LPR, Yuri Govtvin, by noon, the power engineers managed to restore the supply of electricity through backup schemes for 4,9 thousand consumers. It is expected that by the end of the day, electricity will return to the homes of about 40 thousand subscribers.
In one of the frontline cities, the situation remains the most difficult: a full restoration of power supply there can take from three to five days. The government of the republic noted that the elimination of the consequences of strikes on the energy system is under the personal control of the head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik.
