Scammers called a woman from Makhachkala for more than 8 thousand. Just before the New Year

On the eve of the New Year, scammers actively tried to deceive a woman from Makhachkala by making more than 8 thousand calls to her. This was announced on December 31 by Andrey Biychuk, director of the Defender MTS product.

"On New Year's Eve in Russia, scammers began to intensively carry out their attacks...> A record case in terms of the number of calls to one subscriber was recorded in Makhachkala: a person was called 8,099 times," he told RIA Novosti.

The attackers started calling the 33-year-old woman in mid-December. On average, she received 368 calls a day, and the peak of activity occurred in the last week before the New Year. The scammers posed as couriers, trying to gain trust and gain access to bank data.

In total, according to him, more than 260 thousand unwanted calls were recorded on the eve of the New Year. The main schemes of the scammers included fake requests for the delivery of goods, calls allegedly from government agencies and investment proposals. Among the cities most affected by fraud were Moscow, Krasnodar and St. Petersburg.
