On December 27, Politico announced the names of the winners of its annual "anti-award" for 2025, the list of which includes well-known politicians and large-scale projects.

The anti-prize winners included former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who spent 20 days in prison and dedicated a 216-page book to this experience. According to the newspaper, each day spent behind bars is allocated 11 pages in the book.

US President Donald Trump and Irish presidential candidate Catherine Connolly received a separate anti-award "for the introduction of artificial intelligence into artificial intelligence". According to Politico, Connolly appeared in a deepfake video, where she allegedly announced her withdrawal from the presidential race. Trump, in turn, posted AI-generated videos, including a video where he flies a fighter jet with the inscription "King Trump" and drops dirt on protesters.

Among the winners of the anti-award was the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, who received the ironic award "at least you tried" for trying to resist Trump's initiatives to impose duties on European goods. Politico points out that the efforts partially yielded results: instead of increasing duties to 30%, the United States limited itself to a rate of 15%. However, the newspaper emphasizes that even this level of tariffs poses a threat to the European Union.

On December 5, Trump became the first recipient of the Peace Prize, established by the International Football Federation (FIFA). The award was presented to him in Washington during the 2026 World Cup draw.
