In 2025, the counterintelligence service of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus identified and documented the activities of more than 70 agents of foreign intelligence services. This was announced on December 24 by the chairman of the department, Ivan Tertel.

"This year, the Committee's counterintelligence has identified and documented the activities of more than 70 agents of foreign intelligence services. The activities of some of them — quite a few — were suppressed in accordance with the criminal procedure procedure," BelTA quoted him as saying.

The head of the KGB stated that the special services of foreign countries are using new forms and methods of work, including remote recruitment.

On the same day, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko heard a report by the country's Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin on the deployment of the Oreshnik missile system in the country and its deployment on combat duty. The Minister also reported on the recent launches of the Polonaise-M, a modernized domestic multiple launch rocket system with an increased range and improved firing accuracy.
