Russia and Malaysia continue to work on launching direct flights, and if the process goes according to plan, the first flights may be launched in the first half of 2026. This was announced on December 21 by the Malaysian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Cheong Lung-Lai.

"The Ministries of Transport of both countries are conducting these discussions. We are very encouraged to hear that the process is coming to an end. If everything goes according to plan, as we were told, direct flights will be launched in the first half of 2026," RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying.

At the first stage, Red Wings Airline will operate flights from Moscow to Langkawi Island. The Ambassador stressed that with an increase in demand, it is possible to introduce daily flights, which, in his opinion, will benefit both sides.
