I need AI: Russia is experiencing a boom in private proposals for creating virtual assistants
In Russia, there is a boom in private proposals to create AI agents for businesses. Freelance platforms are filled with thousands of ads for the development of voice robots, virtual assistants, and other turnkey neural network solutions. Izvestia has reviewed such proposals. The cost of services from private companies is several times lower than that of specialized companies. Such solutions allow you to automate routine processes, but at the same time increase the risk of data leakage. According to experts, AI agents may be in demand among individual entrepreneurs and small businesses to solve individual tasks, but without deep integration they are of little use in large businesses.
How Private Developers sell AI agents without protection
The popularity of AI agent development services for businesses is growing rapidly in Russia. Thousands of suggestions for creating bots are presented on freelance platforms and ad portals, from voice robots and virtual assistants to autonomous agents capable of running errands on their own. The cost of such solutions starts on average from 10 thousand rubles, which makes them especially attractive for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs, Yuri Shabalin, Director of Artificial Intelligence Technology Development at Swordfish Security, told Izvestia.
— The market for low-cost AI automation is growing, entrepreneurs are ready to implement neural networks, often ignoring security warnings for the sake of functionality and saving resources. The main motivation of these players is the desire to automate routine and implement efficiency improvement elements through language models without overpaying for complex and fully autonomous enterprise—level systems," he said.
Small developers offering ad services, in most cases, have no experience in the field of information security. According to him, such orders are more often carried out not by companies, but by individual entrepreneurs and the self-employed, who are far from protecting both AI agents and artificial intelligence systems themselves. As a result, they often do not realize that the solutions they have created can be used to harm.
The expert notes that it is easy to make a critical mistake when developing an AI assistant. As an example, he cited a personal bot for everyday tasks — messages, emails and reminders: in the absence of correct security settings, such a bot starts responding to everyone. Simply put, if you do not set limits on the number of users, anyone can connect to it and ask any questions, including scammers.
Izvestia got acquainted with the announcements of private developers on popular freelance sites. In the descriptions of the services, the performers confidently declare their extensive experience and willingness to create AI solutions - from simple chatbots to complex intelligent assistants. So, one of the developers indicates more than 10 years of work experience and suggests the development of Telegram bots, Telegram Mini Apps, as well as AI bots based on artificial intelligence from scratch and turnkey.
Another developer in his announcement indicates that he works as a prompt engineer and is engaged in creating AI assistants, as well as automating business processes. He writes that such solutions can speed up the work of companies and increase their efficiency. As an experience, he mentions an internship at Neural Networks JSC and participation in practical projects, including the development of a bot for the All-Russian Digital Dictation campaign and a Telegram bot for automatic news publishing.
The AI market is currently experiencing a period of rapid growth, said Vladislav Belyaev, co-founder and CEO of the AutoFAQ AI platform. A year earlier, the share of companies that implemented artificial intelligence in at least one business function was estimated at 50-55%, but now this figure, according to various estimates, has increased to 70-85%, he noted.
According to him, there is still a high interest in AI bots, which are increasingly being used in customer service and corporate processes. In the first half of the year, this segment grew by about 25%, and by the end of 2025, the indicator may increase by another 5-7%. At the same time, large businesses are increasingly interested in AI agents capable of performing complex actions without human intervention, the expert added.
Should I trust private ads?
The rapid growth of the private market for AI agent developers is a natural stage of business digitalization: companies are looking for fast and affordable automation methods, and the freelance model allows them to get a working solution in a matter of weeks and relatively little money, said Anton, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project. Nemkin. However, such "accessibility" of AI today is largely illusory and hides serious technological and managerial risks.
— Most of the AI agents offered on a turnkey basis for 10-30 thousand rubles are created without a full-fledged security architecture. It's not just about protecting the code, but also about access control, logging actions, and protecting data transmission channels. As a result, the business actually gets a "black box" that has access to internal systems, client data and commercial information, he said.
Pavel Prikhodko, Chief Engineer of Rocket Control, explained that today any decision needs not only to be made, but also to be supported, namely, to refine, repair, and adapt to new requirements. When there are many disparate solutions without a common structure, they become difficult to manage. As a result, such things either stop working normally, they are easier to replace with new ones than to maintain and develop further.
The key mistake in the perception of AI agents is that they are often viewed solely as a point solution, the MWS AI press service said. For businesses, especially large ones, it is not so much the fact of creating an AI assistant that is of fundamental importance, as its further management, and, most importantly, deep integration into corporate systems and business processes. This stage is the most difficult and resource-intensive.
— Simple AI agents may be suitable for private users or small businesses when solving individual tasks, but without full integration and support, they are usually not applicable at the scale of large companies. The introduction of autonomous AI agents in a corporate environment requires a balanced approach rather than experimental enthusiasm," the press service added.
In general, according to Vladislav Belyaev from AutoFAQ, real autonomous agents are rare and they cost more. Thus, the current boom in the freelance market is more an early and experimental phase of the development of AI agents than a ready-made corporate solution.
