The Netherlands called the EU's joint loan to Ukraine worth €90 billion madness.
The decision of the European Union (EU) countries to provide Ukraine with another loan in the amount of €90 billion is madness. This was announced on December 19 by the leader of the Dutch Freedom Party Geert Wilders.
"This is madness, a joint loan of €90 billion, these are just disguised Eurobonds, money that we will never see again," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The politician drew attention to the fact that the Netherlands, under the leadership of Prime Minister Dick Schof, as he put it, follows "Europhiles like a faithful pet."
Earlier in the day, after the EU summit, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia refused to participate in granting Ukraine an interest-free loan worth €90 billion. It is specified that the funds were allocated to Kiev for 2026-2027 at the expense of the budget of the union. This decision was firmly confirmed by 25 representatives of the EU member States.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, after the decision of the European Union to provide a loan to Ukraine under the guarantees of the union's budget, rather than Russian assets, said that if Russia sued for the confiscation of its frozen funds, the EU would have to return twice as much.
