In Kabardino-Balkaria, the population has been growing over the past five years: birth rates are good here, and life expectancy is higher than the average in Russia. This became known on December 16 at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the head of the republic Kazbek Kokov. The President noted the positive dynamics in the region on issues related to healthcare.

What was discussed at the meeting

The first thing discussed at the meeting was the healthcare situation. The emphasis is on prevention: over 340 thousand adults in the region are covered by medical examinations and medical examinations, which is almost 70%. "I know that you have positive dynamics on some issues that are directly related to healthcare," the president remarked.

The population has been growing in the republic for five years, with good fertility rates: 11.2 per 1,000 population. Life expectancy in 2024 is 77.02. This figure is higher than the average for the Russian Federation, and 81.7 is expected by 2030. Mortality from neoplasms is decreasing — 118.6 (per 100,000 population), compared to 287 in the country. The volume of care provided for cardiovascular diseases is increasing, which has reduced mortality due to circulatory diseases. "Per 100,000, we get an indicator of 335, which is also several times lower than in general," Kazbek Kokov said.

The average salary in the region is 51,600 rubles. Since 2018, the poverty rate has been halved in the republic: from 24.9% to 11.7%. It is expected that by the end of 2025 it will be slightly more than 10%. "The unemployment rate has decreased. Today, our economy employs about 420 thousand people. If we take unemployment, it has also almost halved since last year and now stands at 2,000 people, which is 0.5% of the total workforce in the republic," concluded the head of Kabardino—Balkaria.
