On December 14, the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced his readiness to participate in the election of the head of the region in 2026, if such an offer was received from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I will go to the polls if the president [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin] suggests it and the people support it," Kadyrov said during a direct line.

He noted that the issue of participation in the elections is serious, adding that he is "fed up with power and service to the people." According to him, new people could bring an improvement in the situation.

Ramzan Kadyrov has been the head of the Chechen Republic since 2007.

Earlier, in September, Kadyrov said that the Putin district in Grozny is a business project through which local entrepreneurs will be able to express gratitude to the Russian leader for supporting the republic and eliminating the threat of terrorism. According to him, in the new area "there will be a lot of architectural solutions," and when designing buildings, "there was room for imagination."
