Ministry of Defense: radiation accident in Ukraine will affect itself and Europe

In the event of a radiation accident on the territory of Ukraine, not only the border areas, but also a significant part of the country itself, as well as European states, will be at risk. This was announced on December 12 by the head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Forces (RCBZ). Major General Alexey Rtishchev of the Russian Armed Forces during a briefing.

"There would have been <...> the scenario, as it was in the case of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, and radioactive substances would spread to a significant part of Ukraine and Europe, taking into account the average annual wind rose," he said.
