The Melodiya company resumed production of vinyl records

Russia's oldest recording company, Melodiya, has resumed production of vinyl records decades after the cessation of production in Soviet factories. This was announced on December 8 by the company's press service.

"The revival of production under the Melody brand is a natural development of musical traditions in our country, which will allow the plant to become a worthy successor to the Soviet Melody factories," Andrei Krichevsky, the company's CEO, is quoted as saying on the Melody website.

Production was launched in 2024 for the label's 60th anniversary, but the first records were released in December 2025. The first releases were the iconic Soviet autogenic training, the album by composer David Tukhmanov "On the wave of my Memory" and the records of the bands Zodiac and Dos Mukasan.Газета.Ru ".

At the launch stage, Badri Devishev, chief engineer of the April Melodies Plant, was involved in the work. All the plates are printed from restored original master tapes, annotated by experts. Melodies plans to expand its line and release records commissioned by artists and music companies.

Earlier, on November 16, New Atlas magazine explained the lack of brain response of some people to music. According to co-author Josep Marco-Pallares, musical anhedonia occurs due to a weak connection between the auditory network and the reward system in the brain. It was clarified that this disconnection prevents music from triggering pleasure mechanisms.
