About seven European Union (EU) countries have called on the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, to speed up the decision on approving a "reparation loan" for Ukraine at the expense of frozen Russian assets. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on December 8.

It is noted that Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Ireland have signed a document calling for the resolution of the asset initiative. The countries also insist that the process be completed in December of this year.
