RATK reported a decrease in alcohol production in Russia by 6.7%
Alcohol production in Russia decreased by 6.7% in 2025 compared to the same period last year. This was announced on December 8 by the Federal Service for Control of Alcohol and Tobacco Markets (Rosalokoltabakkontrol, RATK).
As the newspaper Vedomosti found out, for the period from January to November, the volume of alcoholic beverages production, excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret and mead, amounted to 158.5 million decaliters. Thus, by the end of January this year, the total volume of production of all alcoholic beverages decreased by 27.8% in annual terms, amounting to 8.7 million decaliters.
It is noted that the production of spirits such as vodka and cognac decreased by 3.5%, while the production of alcoholic beverages and other alcoholic beverages increased. At the same time, the production of grape wine increased significantly (by 11.6%) and sparkling wines (by 8.2%).
There was also a significant reduction in the production of fruit alcoholic beverages and grape-containing beverages. At the same time, the largest drop occurred in the segment of low-alcohol beverages, the production of which decreased by 86.3%.
The day before, it was reported that alcohol consumption in Russia continued to decline in November for the eighth month in a row and approached the minimum recorded in 1997-1998. Thus, Russians have been steadily reducing their consumption of alcoholic beverages since April of this year: the figure has dropped to 8.32 liters per capita over the past 12 months. In November, this figure was already 7.63 liters.
