A fine of €120 million imposed on the social network X (ex. Twitter) by American businessman and entrepreneur Elon Musk is "just the beginning." This was announced on December 6 by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barraud.

"The European Commission has taken action, and it has done the right thing. And this is just the beginning," he wrote on Twitter.

According to Barro, transparency should be "mandatory for large platforms." The minister added that the rule is the same for everyone.: The TikTok social network accepted it, but X refused.

On December 5, the European Commission fined the social network X 120 million euros for violating the digital rules of the European Union (EU) in accordance with the Digital Services Act (DSA). The reason was the deceptive design of the "blue checkmark", the lack of transparency of the advertising repository, and the inability to provide researchers with access to public data. It was clarified that Policy X, which is related to the provision of a "check mark" for "verified accounts," misleads users, since anyone can pay for it.
