The head of the colony in the Leningrad region was detained in a case of bribes
In St. Petersburg, the head of a correctional colony was detained in a case of receiving a bribe. This was reported on December 6 in the press service of the Main Investigative Department (GSU) of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city.
"A criminal case has been opened under Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a large-scale bribe by a group of persons). The charge was brought against the head of the Federal Penitentiary Institution IK-4 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region (the name is not specified)," the Telegram channel of the department wrote.
According to preliminary data, the defendant agreed with a convict serving a sentence in a penal colony for organizing contract killings so that he would create unfavorable conditions for other convicts, forcing them to pay bribes for not detecting violations. It is specified that the group, which included other, as yet unidentified officials, operated from September 2023 to December 2025.
The Investigative Committee stressed that the defendant was detained by employees of the Central Security Bureau of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, together with colleagues from the regional FSB.
Earlier, on December 3, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that Sergey Egorov, the first deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod administration, was suspected of accepting a bribe. It was noted that the vice mayor will be charged in the near future.
Egorov's detention became known on December 2. The press service of the city Hall noted that the investigative authorities are being fully assisted.
