CNN: The United States and Ukraine discussed depriving Kiev of the opportunity to join NATO

"The negotiators discussed a possible scenario in which Ukraine would actually be denied entry into the Western military alliance on the basis of those agreements that must be agreed directly between NATO member states and Moscow," the publication says.

At the same time, Kiev will not be required to officially renounce its intentions to join the bloc. However, if the United States tries to build bilateral agreements with Russia or if Moscow requests specific multilateral guarantees from NATO, Ukraine will not be allowed to participate in these negotiations.

The interlocutor also noted that no final decision on this issue has been made and must be coordinated with Kiev.
