Dmitriev reported on discussion of the preparation of an exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and the United States

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, spoke about the discussion of the preparations for the prisoner exchange with the United States. This was reported on November 18 by Axios.

"The American official confirmed this and said that the American side is open to this, but warned that nothing will happen in the near future," the publication says.

As noted by Axios, for Trump, the return of prisoners is a priority. The exchange may contribute to improving relations between Russia and the United States, the portal added.

"Neither Dmitriev nor the American official indicated which prisoners on both sides might be involved in the exchange," the news outlet noted.

Earlier, on October 25, Dmitriev said that Russia and the United States were discussing the possibility of another exchange of prisoners who were not serving sentences in "high-profile" cases. According to him, he had previously personally participated in the preparation of one of these processes together with US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff.
