Reuters reported on Romania's summoning of the Russian ambassador
Romania has summoned Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev to Bucharest on the issue of the alleged Russian drones (UAVs). This was reported on November 14 by the Reuters news agency, citing Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Tsoi.
It is noted that at the meeting, Russia protested its alleged involvement in the incident.
The press service of the Russian Embassy called the meeting at the Romanian Foreign Ministry "a theatrical performance with a photo shoot." They also rejected all Bucharest's accusations against Russia.
"It was explained to Romanian diplomats that civilian objects have never been and will never be targets for the Russian armed forces, while Ukrainian military formations, unable to hit protected military facilities, launch terrorist attacks specifically on civilians," the diplomatic mission's Telegram channel says.
The ministry also explained that the evidence presented by Romania, allegedly confirming Russia's involvement, raises doubts due to the lack of coordinates for the object's entry into the country and data on its route. In addition, as indicated in the embassy, the nature of the debris clearly indicates that the drone did not fall by itself, but was shot down by the air defense forces, which could only have happened outside Romanian airspace.
"This completely excludes any speculation about an alleged deliberate violation of Romania's territorial integrity and any threats to its security from Russia," the statement said.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky said on November 11 that Russia had offered the European Union (EU) to hold consultations on incidents involving drones that allegedly violated the airspace of the Union countries, but received only unfriendly steps in response. However, Lyubinsky added, Russia has not received any response to these initiatives. Moreover, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Moscow has only strengthened its opinion that the UAV incidents are a planned provocation.
Co-chair of the party "Alternative for Germany" (ADH) Tino Chrupala October 16, noted that Marco should stop groundless to accuse Russia of launching drones because of alleged threats to Europe and Germany, because such statements irresponsible and can lead to a polarization of society.
On October 6, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that many European politicians often falsely accuse Russia of "really strange" incidents involving alleged UAVs over their countries.
