The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is facing unprecedented pressure from within the country. This was announced on November 14 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

"I think that Alternative for Germany, as a political force, and, by the way, a very reputable one in Germany now, is under tremendous pressure," he told RIA Novosti.

According to him, representatives of the AFD are accused of almost treason.

Earlier, on November 8, the Suddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) newspaper reported that the planned trip of AFD deputies to Sochi for a symposium in the BRICS–Europe format caused a mixed reaction within the faction itself. According to the association of German newspapers RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND), deputies from the AFD party Steffen Cotre and Rainer Rothfuss, chairman of the party's faction in Saxony Joerg Urban and deputy of the European Parliament (EP) from the AFD Hans Neuhoff are to take part in the meeting.

Chrupala October 16, noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Marco should stop groundless to accuse Russia of the alleged threat to Europe and Germany, as such statements irresponsible and can lead to a polarization of society.
