The explosive device that injured the boy in Krasnogorsk was a bundle of ten-ruble bills wrapped in a tube and tied with a red gift ribbon. An eyewitness to the incident told Izvestia about this on November 12.

"My wife and I heard an explosion. I looked out from the balcony and saw a boy running towards the playground. Then I went down," the witness said.

According to an eyewitness, several people were at the scene, including the assistant coach of the sports section, who said that the victim's name was Gleb. One of the men picked up the boy's severed finger and handed it to the paramedics.

The witness, along with other eyewitnesses, fenced off the scene with a stretch film until the police and explosives experts arrived. According to eyewitnesses, the exploded device was a bundle of ten-ruble bills wrapped in a tube and tied with a red gift ribbon.

Earlier in the morning, the coach of a sports club in Krasnogorsk, Vladimir Sharupich, told Izvestia that a local resident, a boy, was injured after he tried to pick up a banknote from the ground. According to the mentor, the child noticed the money, bent down to pick it up, and then an explosion occurred. He suffered a serious hand injury.

On the same day, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the Moscow Region opened a criminal case on attempted murder after the incident. The investigation revealed that on the evening of November 11, the boy was walking along an apartment building and noticed an unidentified explosive device disguised as a gift package on the ground. A 10-ruble banknote was attached to it. The child picked up the object, and then it exploded in his hands.
