The International Olympic Committee (IOC) plans to ban the participation of transgender (LGBT movement recognized as extremist in Russia) athletes in women's disciplines at the Olympic Games. This was reported on November 10 by The Times newspaper.

"The International Olympic Committee intends to announce a ban on transgender women participating in women's competitions early next year after a scientifically based review of evidence of the permanent physical benefits of being born a man," the publication says.

Jane Thornton, the medical and scientific director of the committee, presented the preliminary results of a study on the impact of transgender participation on women's sports. His findings were positively assessed by the members of the organization. It is expected that the new IOC policy on this issue will be officially announced during the committee's session, which will be held in Italy during the Olympics.

It is noted that currently transgender athletes can participate in women's competitions, but the decision on their admission remains with the international sports federations.

After her election, IOC President Kirsty Coventry announced her intention to protect women's competitions and ensure equal conditions for female athletes.
