The Moscow Arbitration Court has decided to recover $85 million from the Belgian Euroclear Bank in favor of PJSC Transneft. The relevant information was published on November 7 on the website of the Arbitration Court of the city of Moscow.

The statement of claim was submitted to the court in September 2024, and all proceedings were held behind closed doors. According to RIA Novosti, the judicial act has not been published, and the grounds for the claims are not specified in the materials.

It is known that Gazprombank and the National Settlement Depository were involved in the process as third parties. The composition of the parties, the agency notes, indicates that the dispute is related to the securities of the plaintiff that were blocked due to international sanctions. At the preliminary hearings, the court granted Transneft's request for a closed meeting format in order to avoid disclosure of trade secrets.

On November 1, it became known that the Belgian depository Euroclear began unblocking the assets of Russians without the need to obtain an American OFAC license. At the moment, three successful cases have been confirmed, as noted by NSP lawyer Gleb Boyko.
