The Blue Mosque, located in the Afghan city of Mazar-I-Sharif, was partially damaged by the earthquake. This was reported on November 3 by the AVA agency.

"Representatives of the security service of the Rosa-e-Sharif mausoleum informed our correspondent that yesterday's earthquake led to the collapse of parts of the exterior facade of the mausoleum. According to them, part of the tiles and minarets collapsed," the publication notes.

According to the agency, the internal structures of the building, including the dome and main columns, have no visible damage.

As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", the Blue Mosque is considered one of the historical buildings of Afghanistan. Thanks to the work of the restorers, it was possible to preserve the original architectural elements, including a marble slab with the inscription "Ali is the lion of God."

The seismological monitoring Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan recorded a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 in the center of Afghanistan. The force of the tremors was felt on the territory of the republic. An earthquake in Afghanistan has killed at least 20 people in the northern city of Mazar-I-Sharif and injured 320 others.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) models estimate that an earthquake could cause hundreds of deaths. The extent of the damage caused by the disaster is still unclear.
