Reuters reported on Amazon's plans to reduce up to 30,000 employees.
Amazon plans to cut up to 30,000 employees. This was reported on October 28 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.
"Amazon plans to cut up to 30,000 jobs in companies, <...> as the company reduces costs and compensates for excessive hiring during peak demand caused by the pandemic," the publication says.
According to the agency, this number represents a small fraction of the total number of employees of the company, which numbers about 1.55 million people. However, this is almost 10% of Amazon's 350,000 corporate employees.
It is noted that this will be "the largest staff reduction in the company since the end of 2022," when the organization eliminated about 27,000 positions. The article emphasizes that several departments may be affected by the cuts, in particular, the human resources department, the operations department, and the Devices and Services department.
On October 16, it was reported that Nestle intends to cut 16,000 employees by 2027 in order to cut its costs and improve production efficiency, and the company's revenue decreased by 1.9%. It is specified that of the 16,000 redundancies, about 75% (12,000 people) will relate to employees working with clients in different regions, which will allow the company to save approximately 1 billion Swiss francs ($1.2 billion) annually by the end of 2027.
