The process of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine has been suspended due to Kiev's actions, which Europe is pushing to commit. This was announced on October 26 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

"Ukrainians do not want a negotiation process. They are strongly encouraged by the Europeans and the European Union to do this," he said.

According to Peskov, at the moment the European states are in a "military hysteria", which is the reason for the pause. In addition, he noted that the conflict in Ukraine is complicated, it cannot be solved overnight.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on October 23 that a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict should be achieved not by false statements from media representatives, but by diplomatic efforts during negotiations.

According to her, Russia sees no obstacles for the continuation of the process "to coordinate the political framework of Ukrainian regulation and saturation with concrete results" on the part of the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States.

On October 25, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik noted that the search for ways to resolve the conflict based on mutually acceptable agreements requires politicians and diplomats to work carefully "in the quiet of their offices," rather than demonstrating in squares. According to him, such negotiations are working issues that need to be discussed behind closed doors.
