Starting from January 1, 2026, new rates of customs duties, adjusted by the Government of the Russian Federation to reflect accumulated inflation, will come into force in the Russian Federation. This is evidenced by data published on October 25 on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

"The government has updated the rates of customs duties on imported goods. The relevant initiative was developed by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The rates of customs duties are updated taking into account the level of accumulated inflation within the framework of the obligations of the Russian Federation in the World Trade Organization. According to the agency, their values should be comparable with the costs of conducting customs operations," the material says.

According to these documents, the proposed changes will affect only imported goods, while the rates for exported goods imported by individuals for personal use will remain unchanged. In addition, the innovations will also not affect water and aircraft.

Previously, the rate of 30 thousand rubles for goods worth over 7 million rubles has not been revised since 2004, but now it will amount to 73,860 thousand rubles for shipments over 10 million rubles. The rates for goods for which the customs value has not been determined or declared will also be indexed.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade clarified that the rate will be indexed at the level of the difference between the previously conducted indexation and current inflation.

Earlier, on October 4, it was reported that the Government had imposed a temporary export duty on oilseed flax and approved regional quotas for corn exports. This measure will be in effect until August 31, 2026, the decision will help stimulate flax processing and maintain a balance between the domestic market and exports.
