The wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigitte Macron, was registered on the official tax website of the country under the male name "Jean-Michel". This is reported in a BFMTV documentary.

Information about this appeared in September last year. During the tax data check, the head of the first lady's administration, Tristan Beaume, discovered that in the section where Brigitte Macron's name should be indicated, the male name Jean—Michel was unexpectedly indicated. According to Bohme, it was not a simple technical error, but "outside interference."

The Elysee Palace took the incident very seriously. The First Lady of France filed a complaint, after which an investigation was launched, during which, according to the film, two possible defendants who may be involved in data substitution were identified.

The Financial Times (FT) newspaper reported on July 23 that the Macrons filed a defamation lawsuit against journalist Candice Owens, who claimed that the first lady of France was a man. According to the newspaper, the 218-page lawsuit alleges that the journalist published "ridiculous, defamatory and far-fetched fictions."

Owens said on July 2 that American leader Donald Trump had called for an end to the investigation into Brigitte Macron because she allegedly could have been a man in the past. According to the journalist, during his visit to the United States, the French president personally asked Trump to influence her.

Later, on September 18, Tom Clare, the Macron couple's chief lawyer, told the BBC podcast that his clients were ready to refute the accusations concerning the first lady's gender in court. It was clarified that we are talking, among other things, about photographs of the pregnant wife of the president and her children.
