Putin called the signing of the convention against cybercrime a historic event.

The signing of the UN Convention against Cybercrime is a historic event made possible by the support of the majority of countries of the world for the initiative put forward by Russia. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his greeting to the participants of the signing ceremony on 25 October.

"Without exaggeration, this historic event was made possible by the support of most countries of the world for the initiative put forward by Russia in 2019 to develop a universal international treaty on countering the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes," Putin said, whose greeting was read out by Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan in Hanoi.

As the Russian leader pointed out, Russia is open to the closest international cooperation in the field of combating cybercrime.
