How to cook sausages correctly: all cooking methods
Sausages are a popular product that adults and children love. However, not everyone knows how to cook them properly so that they do not burst, retain their juiciness and taste. How to cook sausages properly is in the Izvestia article.
How many minutes to cook sausages in a saucepan
The classic way to cook sausages is cooking in a pot of water. This method allows you to heat the product evenly and keep its shape.
Before cooking, it is recommended to determine the type of shell: you can leave the natural one after making several punctures with a fork or toothpick, and it is better to remove the artificial cellophane one. Punctures are necessary to avoid swelling and deformation of sausages when heated. Cold sausages should be dipped in cold water to avoid sudden temperature changes and rupture of the shell.
After boiling, the cooled sausages are cooked for 3-5 minutes over medium heat, frozen for 5-8 minutes. It is important not to overexpose the product on the stove, otherwise the shell may burst, and the sausages will become tasteless and too soft. The finished sausages should be immediately removed from the water or drained of the liquid so that they do not get wet.
How to cook sausages in the microwave
The microwave oven allows you to cook sausages in just a few minutes. There are three main ways of cooking in a microwave oven.
The first method is a simple reheating: you need to remove the shell, make punctures with a fork or shallow cuts with a knife, put the sausages on a plate and put them in the microwave at maximum power for 1-1.5 minutes. For a more satisfying option, you can make a deep longitudinal incision, stuff the sausages with pieces of cheese and heat them in the microwave — you get a hot dish with stretching melted cheese. The third method is cooking sausages in water: pour water into a container suitable for a microwave oven, lower the peeled sausages, add spices and bay leaf if desired, then turn on the heating mode for 2-4 minutes.
Cooking sausages in a slow cooker and a double boiler
Steaming preserves the maximum of useful substances and allows you to prepare a side dish and a main dish at the same time. This method is especially convenient for quickly preparing a full lunch or dinner.
To cook in a slow cooker, pour 2-3 cups of water (600-700 ml) into a bowl, place a steaming tray on top and put the peeled sausages in it. Then close the lid and select the "Steaming" mode for 10-15 minutes. If you cook sausages at the same time as porridge, you need to rinse the cereal, put it in a bowl, pour water over it, place a sausage tray on top and turn on the "Porridge", "Pilaf" or "Rice-cereal" mode for 20-25 minutes.
In a double boiler, the cooking process is similar: 2-3 cups of water are poured into the lower bowl, sausages without film or in a natural shell are placed in the upper container, cover the container with a lid and turn on the "Steaming" mode for 10 minutes. The finished sausages are juicy and flavorful, and when cooked with a side dish at the same time, time is saved.
