Murashko urged to reconsider views on aging and longevity
On October 22, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that doctors need to reconsider their approach to longevity and the view of old age, speaking at the plenary session of the National Healthcare Congress.
"Previously, we considered the priority of prolonging life, treating chronic diseases, and aging as a normal physiological process. Today, the priority is the duration of a healthy life, slowing down the development of diseases or leveling these factors," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The Minister stressed the importance of using human health data obtained with the help of personal medical assistants. Murashko explained that previously doctors received information about a patient only during visits to outpatient clinics or in a hospital, but today the possibilities have expanded.
"This allows you to get a lot of data, and certain fitness trackers can provide information about a person's health status outside the office. This data is a valuable resource for the doctor and the healthcare system. It is absolutely impossible to neglect them today. In fact, the data is becoming a new stethoscope, X—ray and the main diagnostic tool," the head of the Ministry of Health added.
