The American Apple corporation will skip the iPhone 19 smartphone and immediately release the iPhone 20 in 2027 due to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone. This was reported on October 22 by ETNews.

The publication quotes Ho Mu-yong, a senior researcher at Omdia consulting company, who said at a press conference that Apple will release the iPhone 18e and iPhone 20 in the first half of 2027, and the iPhone 20 Air, Pro, Pro Max and iPhone Fold 2 in the second half of the year.

Ho did not explain why Apple changed its name [of the new iPhone]. However, this change is interpreted as an attempt by Apple to reset the series name, product line, and release time for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone," ETNews suggests.

It is noted that Apple already used a similar approach in 2017, when it celebrated the 10th anniversary of the first iPhone and skipped the release of the iPhone 9, introducing the iPhone 8 and iPhone X instead.

On September 24, Apple announced that the introduction of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Union (EU) could lead to a deterioration in the quality of user service and the suspension of shipments of certain products to the EU. According to the company, due to DMA requirements, many features and updates for users in Europe will be delayed, and products will lag behind similar products in other regions.
