Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Nikolai Udovichenko special representative for the delimitation and demarcation of the state border with neighboring CIS countries. The relevant decree was published on October 22 on the official Internet portal for the publication of legal information.

"To appoint Nikolai Nikolaevich Udovichenko, Ambassador—at—large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the delimitation and demarcation of the state border with the CIS member states, and also to assign him responsibilities for the delimitation and demarcation of the border with Abkhazia, Georgia and South Ossetia," the document says.

By another decree, Udovichenko was also appointed head of the Russian delegation to the multilateral negotiations on the Caspian Sea. It is noted that the decrees come into force from the date of signing.

Earlier that day, the Russian president appointed Sergey Tough as Russia's ambassador to Laos. By another decree, the President of the Russian Federation relieved Vladimir Kalinin of these duties.
