Degtyarev announced the Olympic Committee's plans to appeal the FIS decision.
The Russian Olympic Committee, together with the ski federations, plans to appeal the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) on the non-admission of Russian athletes to participate in competitions. This was announced on October 22 by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev.
"The Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee, in cooperation with our ski federations, will prepare appeals against the decision of the FIS council," Degtyarev said, as quoted by TASS.
According to him, the position of the Russian side has been strengthened due to the recent precedent when the court recognized the suspension in bobsleigh as discriminatory. The Minister stressed that the appeal will be filed as soon as possible.
On October 21, FIS did not allow Russian athletes to participate in international competitions. The next day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was disappointed by the FIS ban on skiers participating in competitions. According to him, in this regard, the Russian Federation will continue "painstaking, patient work with the federation to defend the interests of our athletes."
