It is clarified that Daisy Link was accused of murdering her common-law husband and the father of the children in 2022. According to her, she acted in self-defense because Jiminez was extremely jealous. The woman said that Jiminez once shot her, mistaking her cousin for a lover.

A few days later, when Jiminez had a new outburst, Link tried to scare him and accidentally shot him in the leg, which led to the man's death. The jury concluded that the woman was guilty.

During her time in prison, Link became pregnant by another inmate, 23-year-old Joana Depas. They were in different cells and never met, but exchanged small items through the ventilation shaft. They developed a romantic relationship, and Depas, who wanted to become a father, offered Link to have a baby. So, he passed his biological materials to the girl through the ventilation pipe.
