On October 17, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky began his speech to reporters following talks with American leader Donald Trump in Ukrainian, but soon switched to English, apologizing for the slip.

At the beginning of his speech, Zelensky thanked Trump for the negotiations and expressed gratitude to the American side for its support, but he did it in Ukrainian.

"I'm sorry <...> I forgot that I'm in the United States," Zelensky apologized.
