CIES included four Russian FC's in the top 100 in terms of player value
Zenit St. Petersburg football club (FC), as well as CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv and Dynamo entered the top 100 of the world ranking in terms of the total value of football players. The relevant information was published on the website of the International Center for Sports Research (CIES) on October 8.
It is specified that the total cost of Zenit players amounted to € 225 million, which allowed the team to take 63rd place in the ranking. CSKA is in 80th place with €169 million, Lokomotiv is in 98th (€136 million), and Dynamo is in 99th (€134 million).
Chelsea London, the winner of the 2025 World Club Championship, became the leader of the rating with an amount of €1.8 billion. The top three also included Real Madrid (€1.684 billion) and Manchester City (€1.485 billion).
Earlier, on September 17, a number of European countries strongly opposed Russia's return to international tournaments during a meeting of the UEFA executive committee. Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, as well as France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, England, Scotland and Iceland opposed Russia's participation in international competitions.
UEFA President Alexander Ceferin said on September 3 that he did not support the suspension of Russian athletes from participating in competitions due to the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that Russian teams were banned from participating in competitions 3.5 years ago, while this decision did not affect the course of the conflict in any way.
