- The Duma of Russia clarified the ban on religious couriers to carry a number of goods
Fatwas are not normative legal acts and have no legal force. Their task is to clarify which actions comply with the norms of Islam and which do not. This was announced on October 8 by Shamil Alyautdinov, Chairman of the Ulema Council of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation (DUMA of the Russian Federation).
It clarifies that for non-practicing Muslims, theological conclusions, or fatwas, serve rather as a background and do not significantly influence their decisions. However, for people whose lives are closely connected with religion, such explanations are important and help to understand how their daily lives correspond to religious principles.
"Once again, I would like to note that the Council of Ulema of the Duma of the Russian Federation is not a state authority and cannot allow or prohibit anything. He only clarifies what conforms to the norms of Islam and what does not," he was quoted as saying on the organization's Telegram channel.
The Council of Ulama of the Duma of the Russian Federation emphasized that the purpose of such explanations is to support Muslims who seek to live in accordance with religious norms and help them on their spiritual path.
On October 7, the Council of Ulama of the Duma of the Russian Federation decided to ban Muslim couriers from delivering certain goods. It clarifies that we are talking about alcohol, pork and meat that does not meet halal standards. Gambling, idols, objects of pagan worship, meat of animals killed in an illegal way, which contradicts Islam, were also banned.
At the same time, Anastasia Ptukha, a marketer, chairman of the Board of directors, and managing partner of the Step by Step group of companies, said that the ban on the transportation of non-halal products by Muslim couriers would lead to an increase in shipping costs, but one should not expect a sharp increase in prices. According to her, if the number of couriers is reduced, companies may be forced to pay the remaining employees more so that they continue to deliver non-halal goods.
