Lavrov: UN OHCHR refused to disclose the names of the alleged victims in Bucha
Russia has received a response from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to an official request about the events in Bucha in April 2022. This was announced on September 27 by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a press conference after his speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
"I told you how we are trying to get the truth about the provocation that was staged in Bucha in April 2022. <...> We applied to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights officially, in writing, a year ago. We received an answer only this summer," he said.
According to Lavrov, lawyers from the legal Affairs department of the secretariat concluded that it was inappropriate to disclose the names of the victims in Bucha in order to ensure the safety of their relatives. The Minister also noted that this decision was communicated orally.
