In order not to burn out at work, you need to strengthen your talents, and delegate what does not work to others — use the principle of "flow". Alexey Bondarev, a cognitive patterns specialist and business consultant, revealed a professional and personal development strategy for ordinary employees that helps prevent emotional burnout in an interview with Izvestia on September 25.

The specialist warned about common mistakes that hinder career growth. He called the first of them defocusing, when a person tries to cover too many directions at the same time, which leads to stress and superficial knowledge. The second critical mistake is trying to develop weaknesses instead of enhancing innate talents.

"Going against natural qualities is too expensive — it leads to burnout," the expert emphasized.

For professional development, the consultant recommends defining an activity that is easy and natural, whether it is idea generation, analysis, or creativity. Feedback from colleagues helps to identify these strengths, since the person himself often devalues his innate talents. Important growth tools are weekly "uploading thoughts" to a diary to clear the mental space and regular analysis of time costs to optimize the workflow.

In the field of personal development, Bondarev advises returning to childhood hobbies that brought joy at the age of 3-5, as their introduction into adulthood brings back a taste for it. It is equally important to resolve everyday issues through delegation in order to free up resources for self-development and surround yourself with like-minded people for support.

The expert also identified three types of joys necessary for balance: physical (sports, massage), impressions (new places, meetings) and solitude (time alone with oneself).

"The psyche communicates with us through images and dreams, which represent the strategy of the unconscious. The gradual realization of these images through courses, professional communities, and new projects leads to a fulfilling and fulfilling life. Following these principles allows not only to achieve professional heights, but also to preserve psychological well—being," concluded Bondarev.
