The temperature record for September 22 has been broken in Moscow.

The temperature record was updated in Moscow on the day of the autumn equinox on September 22. This was announced by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.

"The latest information suggests that the temperature in Moscow at the VDNKh weather station has reached 26.5 degrees, that is, it has updated the previous record by 0.4 units," he said in a conversation with TASS.

Vilfand explained that the abnormal heat is explained by the intake of air from the hot regions of Africa. He also added that in the coming days, the convergence of air masses will lead to a decrease in temperature in the evening, when it will drop sharply to 10-12 degrees.
