Kenyan athlete Alphonse Kigen won the Moscow Marathon, covering a distance of 42.195 km in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 31 seconds and setting a new competition record. Footage of the race on September 21 is published by Izvestia.
The previous record, set in 2024 by Moroccan Younes Bennar, was 2 hours 11 minutes 34 seconds.
The second place was taken by Ethiopian Gebretsadiq Adihana with a score of 2 hours 10 minutes 9 seconds, the third was Russian Dmitry Nedelin — 2 hours 10 minutes 43 seconds.

The Moscow Marathon 2025 started in the capital on September 20, with participants completing an updated 10 km and 42.2 km route through the central streets of the capital.
