Citizens of the Russian Federation who betrayed their homeland in their statements must be stopped. This was stated on September 21 by People's Artist of Russia and State Duma deputy Dmitry Pevtsov in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

"It's wartime, and people who verbally become traitors to the motherland should probably be stopped somehow, especially if they are or were once leaders of public opinion," he said, commenting on a recent interview with singer Alla Pugacheva.

Pevtsov added that Pugacheva is a Russian citizen and stressed that all her actions and statements fall under the norms of Russian legislation, in particular criminal law.

On September 18, lawyer Mikhail Berandze told Izvestia that Pugacheva could face criminal charges after her interview in which the actress positively characterized the first president of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). Dzhokhar Dudaev.

Earlier, on September 16, the head of the Federal Project on Security and Anti-Corruption, Vitaly Borodin, announced the start of collecting signatures against Pugacheva, who is accused of treason. The authors of the petition stated that the singer justified terrorist acts and expressed support for Dudaev. A day earlier, lawyer Alexander Treshchev filed a lawsuit against Pugacheva to recover 1.5 billion rubles in compensation for moral damage after making statements about Dudaev.
