Black Sea dolphin rescued from Beisug River in Kuban
The Black Sea dolphin, which had been in the fresh water of the Beisug River in the Kuban for a long time, was rescued by specialists. Footage from the scene on September 18 is published by Izvestia.
The operation was observed by local residents, some of whom helped volunteers and experts from the Delphi Scientific and Ecological Dolphin Rescue Center.
The dolphin, which has been in the river for more than three weeks, will soon be released into the Black Sea after an assessment of its condition by specialists.
On July 23, it was reported that dolphins had been spotted in the Gulf of Finland about 50 km from St. Petersburg. A local resident filmed marine life in the Zelenogorsk area, which scientists allegedly identified as bottlenose dolphins. These individuals occasionally appear in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea.
On September 8, local fisherman Nikolai Pavlovich said that the red-listed bottlenose dolphin behaves actively, mischievously and is not afraid of anyone.
