The State Duma Committee approved the draft on conscription during the calendar year

The State Duma Committee on Defense recommended the adoption in the first reading of a bill that offers the possibility of conscription throughout the calendar year. This follows from the committee's decision, which was reviewed by TASS on September 17.

The project assumes that medical examinations, professional psychological selection and meetings of the draft commission will be conducted throughout the year. At the same time, citizens will be sent to the service on time. At the same time, the actual draft will be carried out twice a year: from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31.

In addition, the bill introduces special terms of conscription for certain categories of citizens. For example, rural residents engaged in field work will join the army from October 15 to December 31, teachers from May 1 to July 15, and residents of the Far North from May 1 to July 15 or from November 1 to December 31.

As indicated in the explanatory note, the innovations are aimed at improving the distribution of the burden on recruitment offices and improving the quality of conscription of citizens for military service.
