Zakharova commented on Pugacheva's statements about Dudaev with words from the Bible
On September 17, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the statements of singer Alla Pugacheva (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) about the leader of the Chechen separatists Dzhokhar Dudayev, quoting words from the Holy Scriptures: "Do not create an idol for yourself."
Earlier, Pugacheva spoke in an interview about her acquaintance with Dudaev, calling him a "decent, decent and intellectual" person. In the 90s, Dudaev led Chechen separatists and was the main organizer of military operations against Russian federal forces. He was eliminated on April 21, 1996 near the village of Gekhi-Chu.
"I always repeat one phrase: if you don't want to be disappointed, don't be charmed. There is nothing extraordinary in this phrase, the wisdom lies in the fact that, as it is written in the Holy Scriptures, "do not create an idol for yourself," Zakharova said on Sputnik radio.
